What Works in Social Business

Blog Post

At our recent Social Business Summit 2010 in Austin, I gave a presentation about the state of Social Business Strategies in 2010, and more importantly what is working and why. The 56 slides are included below, in the event that you weren’t able to attend the summit. They cover topics such as social business benefits, the social supply chain, and communities.

Our entire slide library can be found on Slideshare.

  1. Dion,

Next time you update this presentation perhaps you can include your perspective on the key topic that is missing — the apparent social-savvy talent shortage.

Few people at large “command and control” centered companies — with longstanding legacy business cultures — are equipped for the Social Business environment of today.

IMHO, it’s not a skills shortage scenario, but more of a “creative initiative” shortfall — businesses populated by “employees” who are schooled in closely following policies that were intended to limit independent thought.

Likewise, the typical roadblock to progress is “unlearning” the obsolete rules of how a business should operate, rather than merely learning the new concepts and associated tools that enable the transition.
